JAPAN CARBON AWARDS : Canceled

The CARBON2020 Organizing Committee will present three awards as mentioned below. The award ceremony for Eminent Contributor and Young Researchers Awards will be held on July 2 2020 in the CARBON2020 banquet. Student Award will be announced and presented on July 3 in the closing ceremony.

Japan Carbon Award for Eminent Contributor (innovative researcher):

For particularly significant contributions to the academic and industrial areas through inventions, discoveries, or R&D in the field of research related to carbon materials. The award consists of a certificate and a prize in Japanese Yen. Application Form, detailed description of the Nominee’s achievement, Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications, two Letters of Recommendation (by two persons except the “Nominator” in Application Form) are required. Please send the document above as designated by April 30, 2020.
A registration and a paper submission by the Nominee are both necessary for the application. The recipients will be requested to submit an Award Review (2-3 pages) explaining their awarded work to TANSO, the journal of The Carbon Society of Japan.

Japan Carbon Award for Young Researchers:

For distinguished achievements with original publications in the field of research related to carbon materials. Nominee must be born in 1979 or after. The award consists of a certificate and a prize in Japanese Yen. Application Form, detailed description of the Nominee’s achievement, Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications, one Letter of Recommendation (by one person except the “Nominator” in Application Form) are required. Please send the document above as designated by April 30, 2020. A registration and a paper submission by the Nominee are both necessary for the application. The recipients will be requested to submit an Award Review (2-3 pages) explaining their awarded work to TANSO, the journal of The Carbon Society of Japan.

Japan Carbon Award for Students (excellent posters):

For excellent poster presentations by students in CARBON2020. Examination will made by the confidential experts on-site. Application for the award can be done on the corresponding paper submission through the website, therefore the deadline coincides with that of a paper submission.

Young Scientist SFEC Award 2020:

This award is open to any French speaking researcher wherever he or she works, and to any researcher working in a laboratory in a French-speaking country/region. Complete award details and application information can be found here.

Latin-American Carbon Federation Award:

This award is for the best work submitted to the international carbon conference by a young researcher concerning the scientific aspects and/or the technological applications of carbon. Nominations for the award should be addressed to:

Brian Kelly Award:

The award from the British Carbon Group is intended as a travel grant for students and early career researchers with up to ten years postdoctoral experience to attend the annual International Carbon Conference. The award is five hundred pounds sterling (£500) and is presented at the time of the conference with a certificate. It is a condition of the award that the winner attends the conference and presents their paper either orally or as a poster. C-Journal of Carbon Research Award:

For recent outstanding contributions and achievements by young scholars in the field of Carbons for Electrochemical Applications. The award will provide an award certificate, 200 CHF cash, and a voucher (300 CHF) for article processing charges for the C-Journal of Carbon Research.

Carbon Journal Prize 2020:

The journal Carbon and its publisher Elsevier will be awarding the Carbon Journal Prize, given for “an outstanding Ph.D. thesis in carbon material science and technology”.
The journal is now accepting written nominations for this award, which is open to researchers who have successfully defended a Ph.D. thesis in the calendar year 2019 (the date of the thesis defense, rather than the graduation date, is to be used as the criterion for eligibility).
The selection will be made based on the quality and importance of the Ph.D. research, and preference will also be given to thesis research that had led to at least one publication in the journal Carbon.
